🧭 Explorer Tip

When using the QZ 80 in mineralized terrain, switch to Smart Mode only after you've completed a wide sweep in Search Mode. Smart Mode performs best when scanning narrowed areas, giving you faster target profiling and more accurate shape detection. Also, perform ground balancing every 15–20 meters if you're moving through layered soil zones — especially if you're transitioning between clay, gravel, or sand. Want better target certainty? Run a second pass from a 45-degree angle. You’ll reduce misreads from buried iron and confirm signal consistency before digging.

🧭 Field Report

Location: Northern Arizona — mineral-rich red clay terrain near historic gold-bearing wash

Conditions: 29°C (84°F), semi-arid, high ground mineralization, scattered volcanic rock

Objective: Conduct gold prospecting survey and test target discrimination across mixed conductivity zones

The QZ 80 was deployed for a two-day survey on a hillside where traditional VLF detectors had shown high false signal rates due to heavy mineral content. The Auto Ground Balance feature on the QZ 80 performed with excellent stability across clay and sandy patches. In Search Mode, I covered a 20-meter grid and received consistent ferrous/non-ferrous separation feedback, allowing me to avoid scrap and focus on clean target tones.

In one flagged area, Smart Detection identified a strong, narrow-band signal at approximately 1.4 meters depth.
